an astounding experience! Going through the contents of an old scrapbook, I found something I thought had been lost in a theft
fifty years ago - a letter from the White House signed by John F. Kennedy, congratulating me upon the completion of my first
year of service in the Peace Corps, along with the original envelope, addressed to me in Nigeria. The letter was dated Oct
4, 1963 and mailed on October 21, and Kennedy was to be assassinated on November 22 of that year. This is just one of the
wonderful 'saves' that might not have happened without our combined careful and sensitive collaboration while you helped me
reorganize my 'possessions' at this time of my life"
